Christine MacKay’s, M.Ed., CCC, approach to counselling can be summed up in two guiding beliefs: “Grief is everywhere” and “Curiosity will save the world.” She recognizes that grief comes in many forms and degrees—whether it’s the loss of a loved one, the pain of an unfulfilled childhood, a difficult life transition, or even misplacing a cherished object. Christine believes everyone deserves the time, space, and support to process these experiences.

Nicole Allan
I have a feeling you’ve spent much of your life being the strong one. The one who gets things done. The one who keeps showing up. The one who cares deeply for the people around her while quietly carrying more than anyone realizes. And maybe lately you’ve started wondering, “There has to be another way.”
A way of living that isn’t driven by anxiety, perfectionism, or survival. A way of understanding the family patterns you’ve inherited, reconnecting with your body, and creating the kind of life, and perhaps the kind of motherhood, that feels intentional instead of automatic.
If that resonates, I’m really glad you found your way here.
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I work with individuals and couples from a systemic and relational perspective, recognizing that our relationships, experiences, and environments all shape the way we move through the world. Together, we’ll explore your story with curiosity, compassion, and without judgment.
One of the beliefs that grounds my work is this: forgive yourself for all of the habits you picked up when you were in survival mode. Many of the ways we cope once helped us get through something difficult. Rather than asking, “What’s wrong with me?” we’ll gently explore, “What happened to me, and what was my body and mind trying to protect?”
A big part of my work is honouring the connection between the mind and body. Our nervous systems are constantly working to keep us safe, and experiences of anxiety, anger, depression, or feeling “stuck” often make more sense when we understand patterns of fight, flight, and freeze. When you start seeing your symptoms as messages from your body rather than signs that something is wrong with you, healing can truly begin.
My hope isn’t simply to help you manage symptoms. The goal of therapy is understanding and healing the experiences beneath them, not just changing the habits that once helped you survive. I draw from Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Polyvagal Theory to support this work with warmth and curiosity.
I also believe our bodies often notice what our minds haven’t yet found words for. If we learn to listen when our bodies whisper, they don’t have to scream to get our attention. Together, we’ll learn to notice those whispers with compassion instead of criticism.
As a mother, wife, and mixed-race firstborn daughter with both South Asian and European heritage, I value the richness of diverse cultures, identities, and lived experiences. I strive to create a space where you feel genuinely seen, respected, and safe to show up exactly as you are.
Beginning therapy can feel like a big step, which is why I offer complimentary meet and greets to answer your questions, learn about your hopes, and help you decide whether we’re a good fit. I offer both in-person and virtual therapy at Fortify, and it would be an honour to walk alongside you.
Reaching out is often the hardest part. I’m so glad you’re here.

Life is a journey that can take us places we may not have ever expected to be. Sometimes things can get heavy and can stop us from moving forward in the way we want to. You do not have to walk alone. I am here to walk beside you and help you put down some of the heaviness so that you can find the freedom you need to push forward.
I work from a narrative therapeutic standpoint. I focus on a justice oriented feminist approach that focuses on how individuals make meaning of their circumstances. While I mainly work with women I have worked with clients from all walks of life, genders, ages, and sexual orientations. I specialize in relationships, self-betterment, healing from trauma, and anxiety and depression. I help clients re-author their stories and separate their problems from who they are as a person. Clients can take the sessions where they need to and we will work through each focus point at a pace that works for the client.
Everyone has a story that describes how they are experiencing their world, their relationships, and their problems. I will walk alongside you as you take me through your narrative. We will explore your values, your beliefs about yourself, and how you make meaning of these things. Together we will work to thicken your story and discover your desired outcome.
